Invoice Due Today: Reminder Email Templates for Freelancers
A short, friendly reminder on the due date is the single easiest way to stop an invoice from sliding into overdue. Clients rarely refuse to pay on day one. They forget, the invoice is buried, or it is stuck in an approval queue. A due-today email makes paying effortless and surfaces any problem while it is still small.
Why send a reminder on the due date
- It catches invoices that were never approved or were sent to the wrong inbox.
- It keeps the tone friendly: nothing is late yet, so there is nothing awkward to say.
- It sets a pattern: clients learn that you track due dates and follow up.
- If a problem exists, you hear about it on day zero instead of day thirty.
Before you send
- Double-check the invoice number, amount, and due date match what you originally sent.
- Attach the invoice PDF again and include a direct payment link.
- Send in the morning of the client's time zone so it lands before their payment run.
- Keep it short. Three or four lines are plenty on the due date.
