Multiple Unpaid Invoices: One Clear Follow-Up Email for Freelancers
If several invoices are open, separate reminder threads get confusing fast. One email that lists every open invoice, the total, and a single ask for a payment date is easier for the client to act on and easier for you to track. Keep the tone calm and factual. You are clearing the board, not escalating yet.
What to put in a multi-invoice email
- A short table or bullet list: invoice number, amount, original due date, and days past due for each open invoice.
- A clear total of everything still owed.
- One question: when can the full balance (or a first installment) be paid?
- Re-attach every open invoice or include one payment link that covers the total if your processor allows it.
If only part gets paid
- Send a thank-you that names what cleared, then list what is still open.
- Do not restart the whole sequence from scratch; continue from the remaining balance.
- If they want a payment plan, confirm amounts and dates in writing before you stop following up.
