When texting is OK
- You already communicate with this client by text.
- It is business hours in their time zone.
- You send the full details by email too, so there is a written record.
- Not for first contact with accounts payable or for final notices; those belong in email.
Short templates
- Due tomorrow: "Hi [Name], quick heads up: invoice [#] for [Amount] is due tomorrow. Link: [Payment Link]. Thanks!"
- 1-3 days late: "Hi [Name], just a reminder that invoice [#] ([Amount]) was due [date]. Here is the link: [Payment Link]. Thanks!"
- Ask for a date: "Hi [Name], checking on invoice [#]. Do you have a date it will be paid? Happy to resend anything."
- After an email went unanswered: "Hi [Name], I emailed about invoice [#] on [date]. Could you take a look when you get a sec?"
- Promise follow-up: "Thanks [Name]! Just confirming payment for [#] will go out [date]. Appreciate it."
- Received: "Got it, thank you [Name]! Payment for [#] received."
