Client Not Responding After a Proposal: 3 Follow-Up Emails
Silence after a proposal rarely means no. Usually the decision got buried, the budget is waiting on someone else, or the scope raised a question nobody asked. Three short, spaced follow-ups get you a clear yes, no, or not now.

Email 1, day 2-3:
Hi [Client Name], Wanted to make sure the proposal for [Project] reached you. Happy to walk through it in a quick 10-minute call or adjust scope if something does not fit. Would [Day/Time] or [Day/Time] work? Best, [Your Name]
Email 3, day 14 (close the loop):
Hi [Client Name], I have not heard back on the [Project] proposal, so I am guessing timing or priorities changed. That is completely fine. Should I close this out for now, or would it help to revisit in [month]? A one-word reply is perfect. Thanks, [Your Name]
Schedule that works
- Day 2-3: confirm receipt and offer a 10-minute call.
- Day 7: add value: answer a likely objection or offer a smaller first phase.
- Day 14: close the loop politely. This one gets the most replies.
Make the yes easier
- Offer a smaller starter scope or a phased price.
- Put a start date and an expiry date on the proposal.
- Ask one question per email.
